Water Tower Kenaston

Water Tower Project: The Kenaston & District Chamber of Commerce received very good news this spring! Our Chamber has been approved to submit applications for project funding to the Dakota Dunes Community Corporation. The qualifying period is from 2008 - 2010. Funding applications are accepted on a quarterly basis and each is accepted or denied on the merit of the project.

The Chamber submitted the Water Tower Project by the first deadline and was approved for funding with a completion deadline of December 31, 2008. The grant is for $9930 and was approved based on the $5,000 of community donations that the Chamber has acquired over the past years. Note that we had expended some of our funds on the environmental cleaning of the building interior in 2007. I believe that the application was viewed favourably because we have some of our own funds to expend on the project.

The current project budget is around $15,000.00 given that shingling became necessary along with the previously planned scraping, some 200 boards for replacement siding and a couple of coats of paint. The siding is being cut by a sawmill in the Love area of Saskatchewan and Jeff Sanderson and crew have now shingled the building. We have a good start! We are now seeking painters so if you want to discuss the project, kindly contact Susan Anholt (252-2001 evenings).

Dog Digging

Attention Pet Owners: The council of the Village of Kenaston would like to remind all residents that we have an animal control bylaw in place which prohibits animals running at large and defecating on any public or private property other than the property of its owner. They would like to advise all pet owners to have your pets leashed when walking them within the village and to prevent them from defecating on others property. If they do, please remove the waste from the property. Many people put a lot of work into their lawns and would appreciate it if others would be respectful.
