The Kenaston School of Dance
The Kenaston School of Dance consists of many talented and committed young people who work through a rigorous practice and competition schedule year after year.
Congratulations to all the dancers of the Kenaston School of Dance who held their year end dance recital on Sunday May 3rd, 2009. We had 38 students enrolled ranging from 4 to 18 years of age. The students received instruction from the talented Miss Nikki Pavelich in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Lyrical. 21 of our dancers attended competitions this year in Lanigan, Watrous, North Battleford and Saskatoon (hosted by Aberdeen). Our dancers came home with 27 metals (7 gold, 12 silver, and 8 bronze) as well as 2 awards. Stephanie Miller received the award from the North Battleford Dance Festival for the highest mark in a tap solo age 18 years. Our Sr. Jazz group “Working Girlz” received the Adjudicators Choice Award any age, in Aberdeen. We had 3 groups make it to the top 24 dance off at the Aberdeen competition, congratulations to Calina Evans & Morgan Taylor (Tap Duet), “Let’s Get It”(Jazz) Sam Chomyshen, Sam Guy, Jade Schwab, Tessa Tomlenovich, Rebecca Walton, & Kara Lee Zdunich. and “Workin’ Girlz” (Jazz) Brooke Anderson, Amy Chomyshen, Steph Miller, and Ashton Mills.
The School of Dance would like to thank everyone who has once again made our year a success; including all the parents for the support in fund raising, all the local businesses who so generously donated to the raffle table, everyone who came to watch our recital, and to our teacher and dancers for all their hard work.
Be sure to take the opportunity next season to watch our dancers perform. A “School of Dance” page and pictures have being added to the Kenaston website and can be accessed from the home page under the recreation listing or the “Recreation” page on the kenaston.ca page.

Contributing to the Crossroads: As space allows and content deemed appropriate, community members are welcomed and encouraged to contribute information to the Crossroads. Although originally designated for Chamber updates and to promote Community Spirit, the Crossroads is really all about what makes Kenaston a proud and viable community. We like to see community spirit items, and recognition of our teams, clubs, students and organizations as well as our individual community members. Short events notices can also be placed in the list of coming events. Email your contributions to Glen Pavelich at gene.glen@sasktel.net, or Susan Anholt at sdaa@sasktel.net. Bi-monthly issues come out the 1st week of February, April, June, August, October and December.
If you are submitting photographs, be sure to download a photo release form from our website and ensure that the signed form is returned to Glen Pavelich.

August Yard Sale Event: August 2, 2009
It’s time again to consider whether your household, or a group of households together, want to hold a yard sale on the August long weekend. Prairie Treasures will of course be hosting their annual flea market event, which makes this weekend the perfect time since there is extra traffic in town and highway signage to advertise it. You need not limit yourself to second hand items as new items or product sales, food items or entertainment options can also be considered.
It is agreed that only 1 day is necessary for the expanded town wide yard sale, so this year you need only set aside the Sunday (and not the Monday) for your event. However, you can opt for both days if you wish. Give your name to Susan Anholt for the map by July 15th. The signage on the highway will be up in the near future so we can ensure great advertising.
Small Business Loans available at 4% Interest from the Small Business Loan Association (SBLA). If you have a business idea but need capital, you may qualify for up to $15,000. Call Glen Pavelich 252-2711 for an application.
