Dinner Theatre 2015

Mark your calendars - The Kenaston and District Dinner Theatre's 17th annual production will take place on March 27 & 28, 2015. (Look for more details to follow). This event is a major fundraiser for Kenaston Place and it wouldn't be possible without the incredible, dedicated effort from our community.

We are looking for volunteers to help us this year in a wide array of roles: everything from plating appetizers, to waiting tables, putting up posters, helping with linens and the list goes on. All efforts are greatly appreciated. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Lori Gasper 306-252-2041.

Veteran's Park:

Lights
Be sure to look for the lights in Veteran's Centennial Park in early December. If you have Christmas lawn ornaments that you would like to donate to our Christmas theme, please contact Reagan Prpich.

Community Spirit: Harvest Wind-Up 2014

A very successful Harvest Wind-Up was held at Kenaston Place on October 18. Following the cocktail hour and supper, Brad Johner and the Johner Boys put on another impressive show. The committee would like to thank the sponsors for this event: Riverbend Co-op, Western Sales, Millsap Fuel Distributors, Proprint and Affinity Credit Union. We would also like to thank those who helped with food preparation and clean-up, with a special thanks to Kenaston School Staff. The committee appreciated the community support for this event, the proceeds of which are used for upgrades and maintenance of Kenaston Place.

Chamber Thank yous:

Walking Trail Sign DonationThank you to Affinity Credit Union and Patti Hertz for donating the replacement walking trail sign that went missing last year.

Thank you to Denis Powder for fixing the two lights at the snow man park. Sadly one was broken immediately.

Our next thank you goes to Andrew Lutz of Lutz Electric who replaced the light and installed cages to protect them from flying objects. The snowman is now shining brilliantly at night time.

Thanks also to Denis Powder and Lorne Anholt who changed the flags in time for Remembrance Day. All of this wonderful volunteer effort is greatly appreciated.

COMMUNITY MEETING Tuesday, January 20th, 2015. - Mark Your Calendars!

It is time for a community meeting. We want to hear what you have to say.

Council has been grappling with many issues over the course of 2014. It is no secret that we are growing and by the looks of things - will continue to do so. We need to 'Plan For Growth' – it won't just miraculously happen. Your Council has been looking to the future and doing just that - planning. Before the Budget Committee sits down to some serious discussions, we would like to hear from you.

At a first glance topics on the agenda will include things such as availability of lots for future growth, the campground, water, sewer, taxes, recycling, Lorras increase...... oh yes, and the highway and what has been happening with that.

Please attend and be a part of our future.

As of November 1 our Village Administrator has been in the office 4 out of 5 days and this will continue indefinitely. Carman will be working her usual Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. The addition of an alternating Monday or Thursday will be included for 2015.

I would like to thank my fellow councilors for all their hard work this last year and for all that they do for this community. Council wishes to thank the Village staff, Carman Fowler, Village Administrator and Joe Stacowich, Village Foreman, for their continued commitment of service. As well, Council wishes to thank all residents, both urban and rural, who go that extra mile to make us a community people want to be part of. It is exciting times we live in and together we can 'Plan For Growth'. I would much rather have the problems and hassles that come with growth then the agonies of decline.

We are here to work with you and for you.

You can email ML Whittles if you wish to communicate your ideas, comments or suggestions for village improvements.

Crossroads Distribution:

EmailOur growing list of email addresses helps us reach more of the rural and village residents who do not receive the printed copy of newsletter AND those who block fliers from their post box.  We are hoping to continue with this expanded email list so the Crossroads and other important notices can be sent to more homes over the internet. Those not on our list can send their email address to Glen Pavelich
