We are hosting our Winter Games on Tuesday February 11 at 10 am. The games are Snooker- 500- Cribbage. The winter games are for members, come out to support the games.

Due to the high winds, shingles blew off the roof and we had this repaired. We have installed a hand rail on the front step for easier access.

Christmas time the school students entertained us with carols for our enjoyment. We had a large number come to the Christmas supper, which was enjoyed by all.

New Year's Eve was a cold windy night but several brave souls came out and enjoyed pot luck with card games and Wii bowling and toasted in the New Year 2014.

Gentle exercises for seniors are every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10 am. Seniors are invited to try it out.

Village Updates
by ML Whittles

In order to facilitate sustainability and growth, the Village of Kenaston is adhering to the standard building and zoning rules and regulations as legislated. Municipalities and rural communities who do not have these standards in place are being bypassed by reputable developers. If you are considering the construction of a new home, an addition to an existing building, a garage or a deck please con-tact the Village Administrator as to the process required.

The Building Standard and Licensing Branch of the Ministry of Government Relations supports building owners, industry, de-signers, municipalities, building officials and fire services, other government units and others in the construction of safe, healthy, habitable buildings and facilities. This support is achieved through the promotion timely adoption of current codes and standards and their implementation along with effective and cur-rent regulations.

The Codes and Standards Program administers the legislative framework for the construction, renovation and the fire safe operation of buildings throughout Saskatchewan. The legislative framework that addresses the application codes and standards is a shared responsibility.

  • building owners are responsible for compliance with The Uniform Building and Accessibility Standards Act and the National Building Code
  • municipalities are responsible for administration and enforce-ment of the National Building Code
  • building officials provide services to municipalities
  • ministry officials assist building owners, industry, municipalities, building officials and other code users in the development of safe, healthy, habitable buildings'

Please contact the office if you have any questions or concerns. It would be great if you could submit your concern in writing, in this way council will be able to review your letter at a meeting and directly respond to all of your concerns.

We are here to work with you and for you.
