The Village of Kenaston is currently accepting applications for the position of Full Time Public Works Operator/Foreman. The successful applicant will have a great work ethic, ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good public relations are essential. This position will be responsible for maintenance, repair, and construction of municipal infrastructure, including but not limited to, roads, water, sewage systems and facilities.
This employee will be expected to perform various duties, such as but not limited to, manual labour, general maintenance and repairs, water and sewage maintenance, parks maintenance, facilities maintenance, operation of various hand tools and equipment including heavy machinery such as a grader and tractor. The role requires a combination of technical skills, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and community service. The position directly reports to the Administrator.
A high school diploma or equivalent is a minimum requirement, with effective communication skills, both written and verbal along with a valid Class 5 Drivers License. Water and/or wastewater certifications are an asset and desirable. Additional certifications for equipment operation are considered an asset. Availability to work outside of standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by emergency situations or special projects is necessary.
